AusGroup through its Australian subsidiary company, AGC, is committed to the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (ATSI) people in our workforce.
AGC have developed a unique program which is an initiative to help improve the prospects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in local communities through implementing improved training and creating real employment opportunities.
The program is designed to enhance and develop skills for ATSI people, enabling them to work successfully in the minerals sector and includes a Pre-Employment and Traineeship Program. As part of the program trainees are mentored and supported throughout the duration of their traineeship and on successful completion may be offered direct employment with AGC.
In Western Australia’s Pilbara region, AGC also supports the Beacon Foundation’s youth employment program, which is aimed at assisting ATSI young adults in making positive career choices and reducing unemployment.
With a dedicated in-house Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Coordinator, AGC is consulting with our clients throughout the Mid West and Pilbara regions of Australia to ensure that the AGC ATSI program and our client’s requirements are delivered.
AGC’s ATSI program includes:
- Pre-employment program – community and school interactions
- Application assistance and tailored inductions
- Existing ATSI employee career development and capacity building
- Cultural awareness training for all AGC personnel
With our focus on increased levels of ATSI employment and social equity, AGC continues to provide improved opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and enhance cultural awareness across operations.
AusGroup subsidiaries AGC and MAS are corporate members of Supply Nation, Australia's premier business-to-business membership body dedicated to growing diversity throughout our supply chain. In 2015 AGC was shortlisted as a finalist in the category Up and Coming Member of the Year and as a corporate member we look forward to building stronger partnerships with Supply Nation.
